During two weeks you will travel from north to south and from south to north discovering the most important regions of our country: Madrid, Andalucía, Catalonia and the Basque Country. The trip will begin in Madrid, the capital of Spain where, among other things, we will get to know one of the most prestigious museums in the world and visit the beautiful city of Toledo. Then we will go to the magical region of Andalucía to discover its splendid monumental legacy, visiting places as impressive as the Cathedral of Seville, the Alhambra in Granada or the Mosque of Cordoba. We will continue the trip in Barcelona, where we will enjoy Gaudí’s impressive work and walk through its most historic neighborhood, the Gothic Quarter. Finally, we will travel to the northernmost region of our route, the Basque Country, known worldwide for its incomparable cuisine. DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: MADRID
Arrival / Tapas and Wine Tour
Arrival to the capital of Spain and private transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, accompanied by our local guide, we will carry out a tapas and wine tour through some of the most charming bars and taverns in the city. We will taste the famous Spanish “tortilla”, Iberian ham, Manchego cheese … all accompanied by excellent wines from different regions of Spain.
DAY 2: MADRID
Panoramic City Tour with Visit to El Prado Museum
This morning we will meet our guide in the hotel lobby. Together with him and our driver we will discover the most emblematic places of what is undoubtedly the most monumental city in Spain. The Puerta del Sol, Gran Vía, La Puerta de Alcalá or El Retiro will be just some of the places we will have the opportunity to discover. We will also visit the Prado Museum, one of the most famous art galleries in the world.
DAY 3: MADRID
Excursion to Toledo
Today we will visit one of the most beautiful cities of the Iberian Peninsula, Toledo. The capital of Spain is a city full of beauty, history and culture. All of Toledo is an artistic and architectural mix that inevitably reminds us of the different cultures that shaped the city (the Christian, the Muslim and the Jewish). During our visit we will discover, among other places, the Cathedral, the Church of Santo Tomé or the Mosque. Upon arrival in Madrid in the afternoon, we will enjoy the afternoon free for shopping.
DAY 4: MADRID > SEVILLA
Tour Monumental Córdoba
Private transfer to Atocha station to catch the high-speed train (AVE) to Córdoba. In Córdoba our driver and a local guide will be waiting for us. Together with the guide we will discover by foot the Jewish quarter, the Alcazar and of course, the Mosque, one of the most visited monuments in Spain. At the end of the tour we will continue to Seville by private vehicle.
DAY 5: SEVILLE
Seville Monumental Tour / Flamenco Show & Tapas
This morning we will meet our guide in the hotel lobby. Together with him we will visit the most representative places and monuments of the Andalusian capital, such as the Cathedral, the Alcazar or the Santa Cruz neighborhood. We suggest having lunch at a restaurant with fantastic views of the Giralda (the tower of the cathedral of Seville). In the afternoon, accompanied by our local guide we will attend what is considered the best flamenco tablao in the city of Seville. After enjoying the show we will carry out a tapas and wine tour through some of the most unique bars in the center.
DAY 6: SEVILLE > RONDA
Visit White Villages
Leaving Seville we will travel to Ronda. During the journey, we will pass through the beautiful Sierra de Grazalema and enjoy some of the most spectacular views of Andalusia. We will also visit some of the famous white villages, considered among the most beautiful in Spain. We will also taste some local products such as the famous Payoya goat cheese and visit an oil mill. The route will end in Ronda, where we will stay.
DAY 7: RONDA > GRANADA
Ronda Monumental Tour
This morning we will carry out together with our local guide, a walk through the most interesting places in Ronda, considered one of the oldest villages in Spain. We will cross the narrow streets of the old town, the spectacular suspension bridge and what was the first bullring in Spain. After lunch, we will travel to Granada, where we will stay.
DAY 8: GRANADA
Visit Alhambra / Tour Albaicín
This morning we will visit one of the most admired monuments in Spain, the Alhambra. It is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Arab art in the world and was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1984. Together with our local guide we will visit the places while we learn about the history behind its walls. In the afternoon we will visit the Albaicín, considered the most picturesque and ancient neighborhood of Granada, from we can contemplate incredible views of the Alhambra.
DAY 9: GRANADA > BARCELONA
Private transfer to Granada station to catch the high-speed train (AVE) to Barcelona. Once in Barcelona, private transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, accompanied by our local guide and our driver, we will take a tour of the most essential Barcelona. We will visit some of the main attractions of the city, ideal to take a first impression of Barcelona, its culture, its lifestyle and its history.
DAY 10: BARCELONA
Gaudí & Modernism Tour / Old Town Tour
This morning we will meet our guide and our driver in the hotel lobby and we will take a close look at Modernism and the figure of Antoni Gaudí. We will visit two of the most important monuments of the great Catalan architect: La Pedrera and Parque Güell. We will also pass by other modernist buildings designed by prominent architects such as Lluís Domenech i Montaner or Josep Puig i Cadafalch. After lunch we will take a tour of the Gothic Quarter and Born District, where in addition to walking its narrow streets we will visit the Cathedral, the Church of Santa María del Mar, the Town Hall Square… we will also have the opportunity to visit the Picasso Museum.
DAY 11: BARCELONA
Excursion to Montserrat / Lunch at author’s winery
Accompanied by our guide and our driver today we will travel outside the city to visit one of the most admired places in Catalonia, the natural park of the mountain of Montserrat. In addition to letting ourselves be surprised by the unique shapes of its silhouette and taking a walk along a beautiful path from which to contemplate beautiful panoramic views, we will visit the monastery and the basilica to witness the singing of the Montserrat choir, one of the oldest children’s choirs of Europe. After visiting Montserrat, we will head to the Penedés wine region. We will visit and have lunch in one of the most charming family wineries in the region. Return to Barcelona and rest of the day free to continue knowing the city.
DAY 12: BARCELONA> SAN SEBASTIÁN
City Tour and Pintxos Tour
Private transfer to Barcelona airport destination San Sebastián. Private transfer to the hotel once in San Sebastian. In the afternoon, already settled in our hotel, we will tour the most essential places in the city. We will visit Monte Igueldo, from where we will enjoy incredible views, and take a walk through the historic center. We will culminate the day with a tasty pintxos tour, visiting some of the best bars specialized in this famous miniature meal.
DAY 13: SAN SEBASTIÁN
Excursion to La Rioja
Today we will go to the most famous wine region in Spain, La Rioja. Accompanied by our expert guide-driver, we will start the day by making a complete visit to a unique winery located in the town of Haro, where we will learn about the whole wine making process, in addition to tasting some of its extraordinary wines. Next we will visit two family wineries where we will taste their wines and some products of the land. Lunch will take place in a fourth cellar and will consist of hot and cold tapas, of course accompanied by the best wine. Finally we will go to Laguardia and we will contemplate on the outside two wineries with an impressive architecture, Ysios and Marqués de Riscal. Return to San Sebastián.
DAY 14: SAN SEBASTIÁN
Excursion to the interior and coast Basque Country
Together with our guide-driver, today we will explore the most rural part of the Basque Country, as well as some of its charming coastal towns. Our first stop will be at Mount Hernio, from where we can contemplate the green valleys and the Atlantic Ocean. Then we will know the impressive Sanctuary of Loyola, located in the valley of the Urola River. Our next stop will be at Mount Izarraitz, with incredible views of the mountains and the coastline. Finally we will meet Getaria, a beautiful fishing village, famous for the quality of its cuisine. Return to San Sebastián.
DAY 15: SAN SEBASTIÁN
End of the trip
