The Montserrat mountain, located 50 kilometers from Barcelona, is one of the most magical, spiritual and surprising places in Catalonia. It is a rocky massif with strange shapes and rounded tops that protrude into the sky. Its name refers to these serrated points (mountain serrated in Catalan). Inside the natural park we can find the Basilica de la Mare de Déu de Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia, and the famous Benedictine Monastery of Santa María de Montserrat.
The vineyards flood the landscape of the Penedès, although modernist architecture, farmhouses and Romanesque monuments are not lacking either. But the green color is the true protagonist of the natural decoration of the region. El Penedès is one of the most important wine-growing areas in Europe and its Denomination of Origin is a globally recognized brand. Its thousand different flavors and aromas are the result of climatic differences and the variety of its soils, and of an ancient tradition. Sea, vineyards and mountains: a territory of contrasts.
Less than an hour from Barcelona we can find Sitges, a small coastal town full of charm. Although only for its old town and its beaches it is already worth a visit, it is also full of fashion shops, art galleries and top quality restaurants. The international touch is given every year by the International Fantastic Film Festival, when the town receives thousands of personalities from all over the world.
