Visit Barcelona on wheels

We discovered corners of Barcelona that we had overlooked

It’s easy to miss the essential details of a city when visiting it for the first time. We walk by architectural elements that are part of historical monuments without noticing, we avoid buildings of great historical value, we step on tiles that have become icons of the city without realizing …

Part of our team met last week to discover more about our city. Do you want to know how we did it all in one morning without losing detail of the most unknown hideouts? On wheels. Yes, we rode on Segway and, together with a guide, we discovered things about Barcelona we didn’t know about.

After experimenting a bit how the system worked, we felt comfortable and started gliding down the Paseo Lluis Companys until the Ciutadella Park with stops to understand the history of each site. The first one of them was the Park Waterfall, designed by one of the masters of Gaudí, Josep Fontserè and its hydraulic project designed by the modernist architect.

Leaving the park we reached “La Villa Olimpica”, an emblematic neighborhood during the Olympic Games in 1992 for being the area where journalists and athletes lived during the event. After that, we headed to “la Barceloneta” with anecdotes that made us remember that the 5km of beach covering the coast are only 40 years old and its sand comes from Egypt.

Once we got to the hotel Vela, work of Ricardo Bofill and one of the emblems of Barcelona’s coast, we toured the entire area of Port Vell. The smell of seafood from restaurants located inside the harbor forced us to stop and recharge our batteries with a “bomba” (stuffed potato) in bar “L’Ostia”.

Right after, we crossed the Paseo Colon and encountered the house where Cervantes had lived and the building that used to be Pablo Picasso’s studio. Without realizing it, we had spent 2 hours and had traveled 12 kilometers!

The history of the old fishing district in la Barceloneta, the birth of Born as one of the most artistic districts of the city, the origins of Roman Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter… Touring the city on wheels without sacrificing the delve into its small streets is possible. We organized a magical event in an emblematic building

The event that we want to introduce today is a petition from Societé Generale, a French bank that called us to organize a dinner in Barcelona for its top clients.
