The so-called Austrias neighbourhood, current historic center of Madrid, is the area where we can find many places and monuments from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, when the capital of Spain was the seat of the Hapsburg court. During this route we will travel through time and discover the secrets and curiosities that will bring us to feel the true essence of this amazing city. We will begin our journey in La Puerta del Sol, the heart and epicenter of Madrid, walking to the Plaza Mayor, the usual venue of all kinds of events at the time. Later we will go to the Plaza de Oriente, to get into the Royal Palace, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. We will walk the aisles and take a walk through the gardens, which stand on the site of the old Alcázar de Madrid, a medieval fortress converted into a palace by King Felipe II. Then we will head towards the Almudena Cathedral, the main church of the Archdiocese of Madrid. Finally, we will visit the narrow streets that form the Letras district, house of the first hidden theaters in the city.
