Hard January becomes less difficult to win when you see that there is a year ahead full of activities. And this happens because we are lucky to live in a country that gathers some of the greatest cultural, sportive and technological events worldwide. Whether you live in Spain or if you plan to visit our country, be aware of the agenda that lies ahead for this 2016.
MUSIC: They move masses and some of their concerts have been sold out within only a few hours. This year, international artists such as Queen, Coldplay, Adele, Justin Bieber, The Cure or ACDC among others visit our stages. Yet, the music scene is not only filled up with concerts. If tickets are sold out or if you would rather prefer go to a music festival, we recommend both Sonar and Primavera Sound. The first one is a cultural event pioneer in format and content through its range of electronic music combined with all kinds of activities including musical and audiovisual productions. The second one provides musical proposals marked by the pop, rock and underground trends dance music. Two options that meet both local public and international visitors.
SPORTS: The top of mind when we think about Spain is Barça and Real Madrid, however, our sports offer is much more than football. For motorsports fans there are two mandatory events that take place every year. The Circuit de Barcelona hosts the Gran Premi de Catalunya MotoGP and the Gran Premio de España F1. With a capacity of 130,000 spectators, it is a must for those who want to share their passion for engine.
TECHNOLOGY: The country’s largest trade fair and a world reference in technology is the Mobile World Congress, the largest reunion of the mobile communications industry. During four days, it brings together 800 operators from more than 250 mobile phone companies and global technology. In this space take place the largest number of presentations and updates in wireless and mobile communications. The summit offers a unique opportunity to bring together engineers, scientists and investors in the sector.
FASHION: With a growing international presence (Iris Apfel visited the show during last summer’s edition), the 080 Barcelona has the most promising designers together with the most consecrated nationwide. Through their catwalk, brands like Mango, Custo and Desigual introduce their collections. Outside the runways, local brands usually organize market stalls, street music events and parties. It is undoubtedly the best meeting point for those who want to enter the Spanish fashion world.
ART: Madrid hosts the International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in late February. Becoming the greatest artistic and cultural event in the country, ARCO offers a great variety ranging from historical vanguards to the modern and contemporary art. In addition to becoming a trade fair for art lovers, it has also been characterized by supporting the development of the artistic world in Spain and boost both private and institutional collectors.
